Refractory Materials

Refractory metals are a class of metals that are extraordinarily resistant to heat and wear.  They all share some properties, including a melting point above 2000 °C and high hardness at room temperature. They are chemically inert and have a relatively high density. Their high melting points make powder metallurgy the method of choice for fabricating components from these metals. Partly due to the high melting point, refractory metals are stable against creep deformation to very high temperatures.

Molybdenum And Tungsten Rod

We offer a wide range of rod product with a variety of finishes. As with all of our products, our rod begins as metal powder which enables us to tailor the material to meet specific customer and application requirements. High purity molybdenum and molybdenum alloys possess unique properties that are suitable for use in a number of applications and industries. It may be most well known for its high melting point, 2620 °C, however its usefulness is driven by its performance in high temperature and corrosive environments:

Molybdenum

Pure Molybdenum
Molybdenum HCT - Potassium doped molybdenum for use where retention of low temperature ductility after exposure to high temperatures is required.
Molybdenum Lanthana (MoLa) - Lanthana doped molybdenum for use where application temperature limits exceed those of Molybdenum HCT.
TZM - Higher recrystallization temperature and better creep resistance than Mo
Tungsten
Pure Tungsten
Tungsten Non-Sag Rod
Gun Drilled Rod
We offer a complete line of gun drilled rod products featuring partial and through holes, short to long lengths, and a wide range of outer and inner diameters.

Molybdenum And Tungsten Wire

Tungsten and molybdenum wire are used in a variety of cutting-edge industries including aerospace, medical equipment and devices, university R&D, lighting, and high temperature furnace.

Wire is available in the following materials:

Mo
Mo-La
Mo-W (50:50)
W
W-La
W-K (non sag)

Molybdenum And Tungsten Sheet

We offer a wide range of cold rolled sheet product in varying thickness and length and per our customer request. As with all of our materials, our sheet begins as metal powder, pressed in to ingots, sintered, and then rolled. The process enables us to tailor the product to meet specific customer material and / or performance requirements to ensure optimal performance in your application.
